The Prince of Denmark has been quite depressed recent---his depression had gone almost to the Extreme. This was not all that strange since in just a few months, Hamlet had suffered one blow after another. First, the elder Hamlet, Hamlet’s father, died inexplicably. The news from the palace was that the elder Hamlet had been taking a nap in the garden one afternoon when he was bitten by a poisonous snake and died. Many people believed, however, that the king was killed by his own younger brother Claudius. Hamlet himself could not help but think this because, not a full two months after King Hamlet’s death, Claudius had already married Hamlet’s mother and had become King of Denmark. The original successor--------young Hamlet-----was simply pushed to the side........
